I have been a very curious person my entire life. I believe much more so than most, even while fully recognizing that I was certainly not the sharpest knife in the drawer. I have always wondered about where I was, how I got here and how it all seems to work. My current working hypothesis is that I am a mathematical instance of myself in an infinite mathematical Multiverse that has always existed and always will. For more on that see The Theology of Cosmic Self-Replicating Mathematical Information and What's It All About Again?. The greatest doubt that I have in my current working hypothesis for what's it all about is why us and why now? My current working hypothesis has us all living in one particular instance of the Multiverse and that this Universe instance is about 13.7 billion years old. We also know that our Milky Way galaxy is about 10 billion years old or perhaps a little older but not by much. We now also know that no other form of carbon-based Intelligence has ever come to be over the past 10 billion years in our galaxy that lasted long enough to produce the soon-to-come ASI (Artificial Super Intelligent) Machines that we are all now feverishly working to produce. If that had ever happened in the past, the Alien ASI Machines would already be here because it would only take a paltry five million years for the Alien ASI Machines to colonize our entire galaxy. The fact that there is enough free energy in our galaxy to power these ASI Machines for another 100 trillion years as they eventually end up huddling around the vast number of slowly cooling cores of M-type red dwarf stars in our galaxy further screams out with but "Why Us and Why Now?"
as does the fact that 100 trillion years is about 10,000 times longer than the current 10 billion year age of our galaxy. What are the odds?
I find all of this quite disturbing. It's enough to make one a solipsist. Even more disturbing for myself, I find that most about me seem to be totally unaware of what the coming ASI Machines mean for the future of our galaxy and with little interest in the entire subject as I explained in Why Are We Human DNA Survival Machines So Superficial?.
